150 Police officers from all of the surrounding cities of Sacramento metro came together today. The area schools were on mandatory lock-down. An entire 5 mile radius was corded off. Nobody in or out of this neighborhood. Officers going door to door. Many SWAT teams were assembles and helicopters with thermal imaging capabilities were brought out.

To catch a dangerous serial killer that did things to his victims that most viewers of CSI couldn’t fathom? A child molester that brutally ravaged a neighborhood girl then killed her? No. To catch a gang member that took a shot at an undercover CRASH officer that was on foot pursuit. Don’t get me wrong, I feel for the officer and for his family. I commend anybody willing to risk their life everyday trying to make a difference in the screwed up world. My hats off to those men and women.

Our tax dollars pay the salary of every one of those officers, and all of the resources put forth today. They did everything short of setting up concentration camps. Where are all of these resources when one of our family members, or our neighbors are in need. People get shot every day. Sacramento is a close rival with Oakland for the amount of murders in a year. This is not something that rarely happens in the south area.

Earlier this month during a routine traffic stop on highway 99 in Elk Grove an officer was struck by a car exiting the freeway. The car nicked the officer as he dove behind a guardrail nearby, as the car ran into the car that was pulled over. There was a woman and two children in the car. As the officer dove for cover he knocked out a couple of his front teeth. The occupants of the car were rushed by ambulance to the Kaiser ER a few miles from the scene. The barely injured officer was airlifted to UC Davis medical center. Air-fucking-lifted! Not the children that were in the car. The officer that knocked a couple of teeth out was airlifted to a better hospital.

Am I the only one who sees what is going on here? The life and safety of a police officer is so much more important than the life of my family and neighbors. Again this is no attack on Officer Vu Nguen who gave his life to protect and serve Sacramento’s citizens. I am sure he was a good man, and my hats off to him for his service. My heart goes out to his family.
